Good to Know

A symbolic wedding ceremony – just like a church wedding – is not legally recognized by the state. Only the civil ceremony is legally binding. Many couples choose to have their civil wedding at city hall beforehand, either just the two of them or with a small group, and then celebrate their wedding ceremony with all their guests. It’s an ideal option for couples who want a meaningful celebration but don’t feel connected to church, or who come from different religious backgrounds.
